Dean's Message
The gaps in today's college education system are known to all. The
education is non-holistic, the curriculum is non-integrative, and
the evaluation system promotes rote learning.
The result is that students who graduate from colleges are not ready for employment. Large numbers of graduate programs in India have indifferent education and a very narrow focus. There is an urgent need for a more interdisciplinary approach, one that blends management skills, soft skills, elements of technology and functional areas even different disciplines, management, technology and social sciences.
We recognized that youngsters today have a lot of free time every day, despite being enrolled in 'fulltime' programs. We also recognized the location of different institutions on the same campus.
In an attempt to fill these gaps, we at SPJIMR, in collaboration with Bhavan's College of Arts, Science and Commerce and Sardar Patel College of Engineering have launched the Graduate Program in Management. The long-term vision is
- To make young graduates more employable and better prepared to start work on their first jobs
- To develop holistic personality
- To develop a dual degree plan
- To provide for the 16 year requirement for overseas study
- To help students gain credits for the U.S. degree
Harnessing the energy of these youngsters, providing them with necessary skills, and preparing them for jobs, is our way of fulfilling our responsibility to the society at large.
